This one I'm using Malabrigo sock yarn in Impressionist Sky colorway. It's really nice to knit with, soft and pretty.
I've got about 2 inches done on the leg so far.
What have you all got on your needles? Anyone else making socks again???
I really finished them about a week. I washed then yesterday and they are still big, oh well. I even put them in the dryer, hoping they would shrink some. No luck.
Since completing these, I have found out lots of things I wish I had done after the fact. So I am ready to try another pair to get a better fit. First of all, 64 total stitches was to many for these socks, I think it was because of the Koigu and using size 2 needles. Next time I will use size 1 for this yarn.

I will do toe up socks again. The biggest problem I seem to have is with the bind off. I had to redo it a couple of times. The best result was with a needle several sizes larger. Now that I'm finished I have found a better bind off, so I will do it on my next pair.. Elizabeth Zimmermans stretchy bind off. Looks easy and I think it will do the trick.
One way or the other I am going to get the perfect pair of socks. I have come to the conclusion that I can enjoy the Journey as well as the destination♥

Pattern: Wendy's Making Tracks Toe Up Socks/
Diagonal Rib from Socks From the Toe UP Wendy Johnson
Heel: Eye of partridge
Size: Large 64 stitches
Needles 2 US size 2
Yarn: Koigu KPPPM

cicihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10219846672368907595noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7300639589924092216.post-31307562029111801792009-05-21T13:15:00.000-07:002009-05-21T13:20:15.739-07:00ready to do heel part

Altho the pattern says to knit the cuff for 7 inches, I'm ready to start the heel part now. But for some reason,, I am loosing my drive. I decided to pick a pattern from Wendy Johnson's new book. Sock from the Toe Up, which I got a few weeks ago. I chose the Diagonal Lace pattern.. It's only 10 rows and knit every other.and for some reason it's been a challenge for me.
I already know that these socks are going to be BIG,,, but I will have to worry about that later. I just want to get to the top. I found another skein of koigu in the same colorway, so I would like to make them longer. I usually do the shortest sock I can do.
And after doing more than half of this sock on circulars together.. I must confess. I had to separate them and now I am doing them one at a time.. this was after I was frustrated because I was knitting with the wrong ball on the wrong sock for a couple of rows... I thought by now I would be use to all the needles and be able to keep them straight. It hasn't been so easy for me.. I think I will make my next socks.. magic loop.. at least I won't get the needles mixed up♥cicihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10219846672368907595noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7300639589924092216.post-87207808835183713642009-05-05T21:07:00.000-07:002009-05-05T21:08:24.229-07:00I'm finally getting somewhere<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgquSQuIaGt05B2j-96lJe_oactlYiKw4GsTDzNyuTcUrulebmNyd53-BdOzLnAhIGim3_heeWVJQxat4xfYdhjnGbxhetxYP5GYZoQ6xtXWgEyIjSBWOTeU3HWmfGU2hVQUurxr8PG6vQ/s200/100_0791.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5332557894278513186" />
but I'm getting close to that heel turn EEK!!!! I did on my blog..but bloody little that does for here, huh?

I love how everyone's are looking.

I gave up with the thin sock yarn and doing it in similar colors....so I am using patons classic and sock yarn coupled together to make a set of fraternal twin socks. That has totally helped. Here's what I did last Wednesday while I was at the er with D. Or was it Tuesday? Like I remember! She's good, ct scan clear, and the dizziness subsided over the weekend, PTL.......and then I got busy knitting my mom's mother's day gift. I wouldn't want to push it to the wire or anything! Bwahahahahahahahaha. Yeah, I'm past that, but I'm still plugging along. It's been too sunny to knit. I've been OUTSIDE.
